Market surveillance authority
The federal states have agreed to set up a joint market surveillance authority to implement the Accessibility Reinforcement Act. The basis for this is a state treaty that provides for the establishment of a central authority based in Saxony-Anhalt. The authority - expected to be called the "Market Surveillance Centre of the Federal States for the Accessibility of Products and Services" - will be responsible for monitoring accessible products and services in future. The state treaty still needs to be ratified by the federal states before it can begin its work. As soon as ratification is complete, the details of the market surveillance authority will automatically be included in the accessibility declaration.
